My approach always begins with gaining an understanding of the business’s purpose (mission) and its core values in light of the challenge (opportunity in disguise). There is always a need to identify the real problem for resolution which requires gathering all available information.
In light of the overall organizational mandate, core values and strategic goals, I would then identify and evaluate each and every possible alternative solution based on its own merits (pros and cons). This approach ensures alignment with purpose and leads to an informed decision.
The decision is then put into action and monitored for its effectiveness. It is important to allow for flexibility and adjustment to the implementation plan as new information or changes in circumstances arise while staying the course.
